Get to know the Paper House

A workshop at the Paper House will introduce you to the art of printmaking under the supervision of a professional printmaker. You will learn the history and methods of making paper, and create a sheet of your own paper, which involves lifting the sheet from a vat of pulp and drying it between sheets of felt. The equipment and instruments in the workshops give you a good understanding of the various stages of papermaking.

Get to know blacksmithing

This demonstration takes place in a smithy with a traditional coal forge. You will get to see iron being heated and worked, and you will learn a little something about the past and present of iron-forging. Products forged by the smiths will be on show alongside ongoing projects. There will be time for questions and answers. At the end of the demonstration, up to 3 people will have a chance to forge their own nail.

Get to know glassblowing

This workshop is intended for schoolchildren as a brief introduction to the art of glassblowing. During the workshop, three different glass objects will be made to demonstrate the different methods of blowing and shaping glass. A master glassblower will talk you through the ins and outs of glassblowing and will tell you all you want to know about the craft. The idea is to have fun getting to know glassblowing and see how glass objects are actually made. At the end of the workshop, up to three people can try their hand at glassblowing – a part of the class that has proved extremely popular.

Guided tour of Fiskars Village

Fiskars 1649 exhibition

The exhibition presents the history of the village, including scale models to illustrate the many stages of iron production.

Take a time trip at the Fiskars Museum (for 6–12-year-olds)

Time trip is a role-playing game that allows you to experience, through play, work and immersion, what life was like in Fiskars Village 100 years ago. The program can be customized to meet the needs of your group, including special needs.

Price: €5 per person (minimum charge €25 per group)
Maximum group size: 10 children
Duration: 2 hours
The price includes the program, two guides, props and costumes.
In some programs, a €10 charge is added to cover the cost of materials.

Lulla's Fiskars

Louise "Lulla" von Schlüter, daughter of Minister Carl Schlüter, was raised in Pohja and served her final years as the housekeeper of Fiskars's officials' homes. In Fiskars she soon became a popular villager. Lulla will tell about the museum's basic exhibition, and of their lives at the Fiskars Ironworks.
