Exhibitions
There are more than a hundred creative professionals living and working in Fiskars Village. Founded in 1996, the Cooperative of Artisans, Designers and Artists in Fiskars boasts members from more than 20 different branches, including cabinetmakers, ceramists, visual artists, goldsmiths and industrial designers.
The first exhibition was organized in 1994, when the artisans and artists living in the village wanted to showcase their excellence. They wanted to bring together art, design and crafts in a wholly novel way. The combination was a new idea in the early 1990s, and it became a recurring theme for the exhibitions. The themes vary every year, with the teams and participants selected specially for each exhibition from among cooperative members, as well as from other Finnish and international creative professionals. Past themes include materials – such as wood, ceramics, metal and paper – and various other topics, such as children and the creative process. Every third year, the cooperative arranges an exhibition of contemporary art.
Exhibitions are arranged all year round. The main exhibitions are launched in May and stay open until late September.
