5x3 Design Visions

This series of exhibitions underscores design alongside the exhibitions of art and applied art in Fiskars and will be on show throughout 2012.
It will feature high-standard Finnish, Nordic and European design in a series of five exhibitions, each of which will present three different designers. The series will bring together both internationally renowned designers and their young colleagues setting out on their careers, who we feel share an individual and interesting view of design. A special feature of these exhibitions is that they will focus on and present the various stages of design work as much as its results, manufactured objects. The purpose is to allow viewers, as it were, into the kitchen of design, where much more interesting things take place than in the dining room. The result is an intimate series of exhibitions giving the public a close-up view of how designers work.
The 5x3 Design Visions exhibitions will contain sketches, drawings, scale models, mock-ups and prototypes of interest to both professionals and amateurs – alongside completed products. The exhibition working group is also interested in independent and critical thinking and activities in the field of design, and we hope that this exhibition will help dispel the illusion of miracle-making that has been attached to the design world. The result will be a rich and colourful picture of the wide range of different views and methods in design.
