Museum Achievement of the Year made in Fiskars (28 May 2010)

The six professional museums of West Uusimaa have been awarded the Museum Achievement of the Year by ICOM Finland for implementing a common collections policy. The following museums and their fantastic staff were involved, now sharing the fame and glory: Fiskars Museum, Hanko Museum, Karkkila Ironworks Museum Senkka, Lohja Museum, Provincial Museum of Western Nyland and Vihti Museum. During the summer, the permanent exhibition of Fiskars Museum features stories presenting two individuals from the history of the village: Louise von Schlüter, a housekeeper, and Karl Wiman, a founder.

Fiskars Museum is open May-September 11am-5pm from Mondays to Fridays and 11am-4pm on weekends.

Iittala Outlet now open (25 May 2010)

Saturday 22 May saw the opening of Iittala Outlet store in the former workers’ tenements by the Fiskars Village main street. The store stocks products by Iittala, Arabia and Hackman, including special offers, factory second and clearance items. The selection is frequently updated, so it pays to come back often and find inspiration for using and combining products. The store will be open throughout the summer from 11am to 6pm.

Petris Chocolate Room expands (19 Mar 2010)

PetriS Chocolate Room café and shop has delighted the visitors in Fiskars Village for nearly a year and now it’s time to expand the premises. The founders and owners of Chocolate Room, Nina and Petri Sirén can now welcome up to 30 guests to their cosy café rich in atmosphere where you can treat yourself with handmade pralines, chocolate drinks and filled croissants. PetriS Chocolate Room is open on weekends from 11am-5pm and May-August from Tuesday to Sunday 11am-5pm. In Easter (April 2nd-April 5th) from noon to 4pm.

Winter happens! (09 Feb 2010)

A rare and endangered winter guest has been seen in Fiskars Village over the last few weeks: locals and visitors have spotted an otter in the Fiskars River (see the picture). Besides the otter, known in Latin as "Lutra lutra", there are plenty of reasons to visit Fiskars Village this winter.
The "Second Sight" exhibition at the Copper Smithy is open until April 25th and can be visited Tuesday to Sunday, noon - 5 pm. Many shops are open throughout the year; please refer to the home page for up-to-date information on opening hours. The restaurant Fiskars Wärdshus is open daily.
