Iittala shop opens (23 Nov 2007)

Iittala's Christmas Shop opens in Kantti Gallery on Saturday 24, November at noon. The shop is open Tue-Sun noon-5 pm until Jan, 6 2008 (closed on 24, 25 Dec and 1, Jan). Iittala Group is part of Fiskars Corporation since August, 2007.

Butiken på Landet Shop celebrates its one year anniversary in Fiskars Sat 17 – Sun 18 at 11 am – 4 pm serving coffee and cake. In the shop you can find quality clothing for both women and men.

Glassblowing attracts visitors (16 Oct 2007)

For seven years, Fiskars has been the home for glass studio Bianco Blu. At the studio, you can witness glassblower brothers Tarmo and Reima Maaronen at work and hear them talk about their work, or take part in the popular glassblowing courses. PhotoExhibition opens the Autumn season (07 Oct 2007)

Exhibition Motifs - Finnish photographic art was opened on Saturday Oct. 7. The audience took a closer look at the works which theme is nature, the relationship of the individual to the society and the environments. Differents motifs of the works, like the narrative and the composition, intermingle with each other and works as a base for viewers interpretation. The exhibition is open Tue-Sun noon - 5 pm, untill Novermber 18th.

Artist lecture Sat 29th Sept (25 Sep 2007)

Alba D’Urbano, who is participating int the exhibitions Transparent is giving a lecture in FiskarsForum Sat 29th, Sept. at 4 pm (in English, free of charge). The lecture within the exhibition “Transparent” is focused on some artistic projects she realized from 1995 to 2005 and deals with the topic of the relationship among body, space, object’s world and media. Among the topics she will speak about the projects “Hautnah” and “Il Sarto Immortale”. More about her art www.durbano.de.

ONOMA-group at Habitare (28 Aug 2007)

A group of ten Fiskars-village designers, artisans and artists producing mainly works for interiors are participating at the Habitare-fair under the group name ONOMA (department 5d19)19-23.9.2007. The theme of the ONOMA-group for this fair is a fictional second-home in Japan, chosen because of the groups´general many-sided contacts with Japanese culture. The participants are: Soili Arha, Markku Kosonen, Rudi Merz, Camilla Moberg, Tuulia Penttilä, Anneli Sainio, Rutsuko Sakata, Riitta Talonpoika, Karin Widnäs and Kari Virtanen. www.finnexpo.fi/habitare

Website praised, scissors to winners (11 Jun 2007)

Thank you for everyone who completed our website survey! We were pleased to hear that most of you liked the site, which was particularly commended for its clarity. We will be continually improving the site on the basis of the feedback and promise to pay special attention to opening hours information. Ten lucky winners of the survey draw have been sent a pair of Fiskars Classic scissors, celebrating their 40th anniversary this year.

Exhibitions are open! (12 May 2007)

The exhibitions Transparent and Points of View were opened on Saturday May 12 in Fiskars Village. The audience enjoyed the beautiful sunny weather accompanied by the local school orchestra. The exhibitions were opened by Fiskars Corporate Vice President Ingmar Lindberg and the main speech was given by Cultural Minister Stefan Wallin.

Fiskars Orvis Shop opened (09 May 2007)

Fiskars Orvis Pro Shop has opened its doors in the Granary, celebrating the season's start on Thursday, 10 May 2007. Orvis boasts a wide range of fishing gear, clothing and gifts and fishing services. Try fly fishing in the River Fiskars and nearby ponds: Orvis will provide all the necessary permits and guides for fishing trips. Open Mon-Fri 9am-6pm and Sat-Sun 9am-5pm.

Tourism award to Fiskars Village (14 Apr 2007)

Fiskars Village has won The Royal Destination Award for Sustainable Tourism 2007. The aim of the award is to recognise destinations engaged in outstanding and innovative sustainable practises in tourism. The award is handed out by Royal Awards for Sustainability together with DestiLink, now for the first time.

Buster boats visit Fiskars Village (23 Mar 2007)

Buster boats celebrate their 30th anniversary this year. The manufacturer, Inha Works, is part of Fiskars Corporation. To mark the occasion, the boats made a grand appearance in Fiskars Village 22 March 2007.
