Greetings from SUOMI – over 50 artists in summery Fiskars
The summer exhibition by ONOMA, the Cooperative of Artisans, Designers and Artists in Fiskars is called Greetings from SUOMI. It is a unique combination of locality and internationality. The group exhibition opens discussions about the multicultural Finland and the current mood in our society.
Exhibition curators, artists Minna Suoniemi and Petri Ala-Maunus, encourage the exhibiting artists to bold commentary: how does Finland seem now as the cultures and identities are defined through multinational communities?
The exhibition is grasping the words ’Finnish, folk and domestic’ and challenging the images raised by the recognisable marks and symbols of our time.
Exhibiting artists – the members of the cooperative as well as the invited artists – interpret the theme through contemporary art, design and craft. The content of the exhibition stretches from visual and performing arts to design objects, furniture and spatial installations.
