Bertel Gardberg was a Finnish silversmith, designer, artist and academician, who is regarded as a leading master of applied art in Finland. He worked as an artisan and designer for over 50 years and contributed to the international reputation of Finnish design. Gardberg made both unique, one-off objects – jewellery and miniature sculpture – as well as commissioned piece and works of industrial design. Along with silver, he worked with a variety of other materials, such as stone, wood, steel, brass and pewter.
The exhibits are on loan from private persons and Design Museum in Helsinki. Gardberg’s work table and his main tools will be brought to the exhibition from his studio.
The exhibition will be open Wed. – Sun., Noon to 5 p.m. from 25 November 2017 to 2 April 2018.
Entrance fees: € 5 adults, €4 students and pensioners. Free entrance for children under 18, unemployed persons, war veterans and national servicemen. Groups of schoolchildren: € 30/group. Guided visits cost €30 and are to be booked from Fiskars Info.
